Replies on responses
After sending a form, people get a private link. With it they come back to read your replies and answer, without an account and, if the form doesn’t ask, without telling you who they are. On the Team plan and up.
Turn it on
- Open a form and go to Settings → Replies.
- Tick Let people follow up and read your replies, and publish.
- Choose how people hear about replies: their link, and an email if they leave one; or their link only, for anonymous reports.
- Optionally, start every conversation with a message, for example when you’ll answer.
What people see
- The thank-you page shows their private link, a Copy link button and a reference like A7K-29Q, in the form’s language. Forms with replies on always show the thank-you page, even if you set a redirect, so the link isn’t missed.
- The link opens their conversation: what they sent, your replies, and a box to write back.
- The link is the only key. We keep only a fingerprint of it, so we can’t send it again: anyone who has it can read the conversation, so people should keep it somewhere safe.
- If they leave an email, we send them a link when you reply. The email never contains your reply, and the link in it works for 30 days. Unless you choose to see it, the address is hidden from you, and they’re told so.
Answering
- In Responses, each response shows its conversation: Waiting for you, Replied or Closed. Filter by it to see what needs an answer.
- Open a response to read the conversation and reply. Tick Internal note to write something only your team sees.
- When someone writes again, the people who get the form’s answers by email (or the owners) get an email with a link, never the message.
- Close conversation when it’s done: they can still read it, but not write. A reply from you reopens it.
Privacy
- Conversations belong to the response: they’re kept and deleted with it, under the form’s retention period.
- For anonymous reporting, choose Their link only and don’t ask for a name or email: you can still talk to the person, and nothing identifies them.
- The conversation page sets no cookies and loads nothing from other sites, like the form itself.
